Montmartre Residency is an independent artist residency and curatorial platform based in Paris.
Rooted in Montmartre, the residency brings together living, working, curatorial dialogue, exhibition and archival practice. Rather than offering a fixed programme, each residency develops in response to the artist’s practice, their encounters with the city, and the particular context in which the work unfolds.
Montmartre is more than a geographical location. It is a territory continuously shaped by artists — a place of encounter, transformation and artistic production.
Through studio work, conversations, situated research, open studios and exhibitions, artists are invited to develop and articulate their practices while in Paris.
Each residency leaves a trace.
These traces — conversations, images, texts, works and experiences — gradually form the artist’s Living Archive (Archive Vivant): a record not only of what was produced, but of what happened through the encounter between an artist, a place and a particular moment in time.
